Thinking about learning a second language?

There are so many reasons to learn a second language!  Second language learners have a better command of their first language and a stronger vocabulary.  It's no surprise that second language learners also have higher reading comprehension and perform better on standardized tests and university entrance exams.  Did you know that each year of a foreign language can dramatically increase a student's performance?  Besides academic and cognitive benefits, second language learners are exposed to different cultures and different ways of thinking.  This helps the learner to develop a greater understanding of their own culture and respond positively in new situations.  Knowing a second language is also a great way to see the world!!  Where would you like to go?

I am a second year graduate student in the M.A.T program at ETSU.   I am very grateful to be here, pursuing what I love.  I hope to have the opportunity to teach French and Theater.  I am lucky enough to have a G.A. with the theater dept. here at ETSU, who, I am proud to say, has an amazing season lined up this semester for those of you who enjoy the theater :) 

I am married to my best friend, Bo.  He is a talented musician and supportive partner.  We have two dogs, Diamond and Boris, and a beta fish named Skeletor.  I am in awe of this life.  Everyday teaches me something new, I'm really looking forward to this experience.  I am not tech savvy at all.  ha.  This is my first blog.  I have a lot of room to learn!
