I created this project during my third semester in the M.A.T. program at ETSU using a template provided by the instructor. I did not have the opportunity to use this project in a classroom. I expect that this project would be a wonderful alternative to a worksheet. I also expect that this project would motivate the student learning process. This project emphasizes student directed learning and uses group work to encourage a system of accountability. One major benefit to this project is that it also helps to develop a working knowledge of the internet as a research tool. I am anxious to try this activity in a classroom.

Description of the ‘relative advantage’ of any and all technology being used in this lesson: This lesson plan was designed as a webquest and could not be completed without technology. The students use technology to access their assignment and conduct their research. This lesson utilizes the internet and provides active links to students that they can use to access sources for information and how to write a persuasive argument. Technology is also a source of student motivation and communication between parents, teacher, and students for this lesson. Students who wish to publish their work can upload it to the class homepage. This will encourage students to do their best, because more people than just the teacher are going to see it. This ability through technology will also help the teacher show parents evidence of student work and give parents an opportunity to see student achievements. Technology is the back bone of this assignment; I could not do the assignment without technology. Technology also provides the perfect means of communication between parent, teacher, and student motivation to produce quality work in the classroom. |
